Welcome to the British and Irish Modern Music Institute, otherwise known as BIMM. We are the biggest and most successful provider of modern music education in the UK, Ireland and since 2015, in Germany. Actually we enrolled 7,000 students in our colleges in Brighton, Bristol, Dublin, Manchester, London and Berlin.
BIMM is based at, and works in partnership with, noisy Academy, an established centre for Berlin music, with 8,000 musicians a month using the facilities which include rehearsal rooms, music shop, backline and van hire, plus their own short courses, masterclasses and one to one music and production education. We offer 4 courses – BA (Hons) in Creative Musicianship (a performance course for Guitarists, Bassists, Drummer and Vocalists), BA (Hons) in Songwriting, BA (Hons) in Music Business and BA (Hons) in Music Production. Extra-curricular activities include gigs that we hold throughout the year, plus the release of the BIMM album featuring professionally recorded tracks written and performed by our students.
We also have guest talks and masterclasses, from musicians and industry professionals at the highest levels. Previous guests include Roger Daltry (The Who), Chuck D (Public Enemy), Brian May (Queen), Lemmy (Motorhead), Mel C, Graham Coxon, Chad Smith (Red Hot Chilli Peppers) and Mike Joyce (The Smiths), as wells as industry guests such as Ged Doherty (Sony) and Krissy Murrison (Former editor, NME Magazine).
Finally, we are all about helping students achieve success in their careers, as musicians, songwriters, producers and industry professional. Graduate examples include James Bay, George Ezra, The Kooks, Ben Thompson (Live Drummer – Two Door Cinema Club), Natasha Bent (The Agency Group) and Becki Willard (BBC). Thousands of Alumni are currently working at the highest possible levels in all facets of the music industry.
